Volgens het Amerikaanse zakenblad Forbes is Manchester United, net als vorig jaar, opnieuw de meest waardevolle voetbalclub ter wereld. United bezet de tweede plek van duurste sportclubs ter wereld.
De Premier League-club vertegenwoordigd een totale waarde van ongeveer 3,54 miljard euro. Op de tweede plek staat Real Madrid, dat van 2013 tot 2016 nog op de eerste plek stond, met een waarde van 3,51 miljard. FC Barcelona volgt op plek 3 met 3,48 miljard euro.
Het team dat in alle sporten het meest waardevol is, is het NFL-team Dalles Cowboys, dat een waarde van 4,1 miljard vertegenwoordigt. De New York Yankees (5eplek) is de waardevolste baseballclub en de New York Knick de meest waardevolle basketbalclub.
