Er gingen al een tijdje de geruchten rond dat Floyd Mayweather het gevecht tegen McGregor heeft geaccepteerd om zijn belasting schulden te kunnen af betalen. Nu heeft hij gereageerd op zijn toepasselijke manier.
Mayweather zou van de Amerikaanse regering nog geld schuldig zijn voor belastingen uit 2015. Echter in een preview van de Showtime’s All Access vertelt hij dat dit niet het geval is: “I’m just sayin’ I’m not, you know, I’m far from hurtin’. I got paper… You know, yet they talking about, ‘Yea, Mayweather this, and Mayweather that’. I mean, I’m not hurtin’. I mean, I got mine,” Floyd says while emptying out a duffle bag stacked with stacks of $100 bills in the episode. “I can’t say what Conor McGregor is doing. I can’t say what the UFC is paying him. You know but every month I make millions. You know, they talk about it, I be about it. I really got it.”
